SPIKE LEE ... DOING THE RIGHT THING on course at BFI ...

BFI began the year with Black Odysseys, an excellent course running for a duration of ten weeks, that took the participants on a journey through the black contribution to British filmmaking and cinema. Analytical, critical and educational were just some of the words used to described the experience.

JIM PINES, lecturer and author of the forthcoming: Do the Right Thing - The Spike Lee Phenenom is back a course offering a critical perspective on the life and work of this leading independent director.



As part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the release of Do the Right Thing, this four-week course will offer a critical perspective on the life and work of this leading independent director. Critically renowned and working across genres, in fiction and documentary, Lee continues to challenge and provoke. Jim Pines, will place him in the wider context of his peers, with particular attention to titles in the Fight the Power season.
